Diaper Water Absorption Rate Tester - Application

Used for measuring the permeability of products such as diapers and sanitary napkins.

Experimental steps for diaper permeability tester:

  1. Place the diaper permeability tester horizontally and adjust the angle between the upper and lower panels to (30 ± 2) °. Adjust the lower opening of the funnel so that the projection of its center point is (200 ± 2) mm from the lower edge of the tester's inclined panel, with the opening of the funnel facing the operator. Pour an appropriate amount of solution into the funnel to wet it, and rinse the funnel twice with the test solution.



2. Take one sample to be tested, cut off its elastic band twice (including the three-dimensional edge protector), and then place the sample flat on the inclined panel of the tester, facing up, with the back of the sample above the inclined panel. Measure 100mm from the center point of the built-in absorption layer of the sample at both ends as the testing area. Fold back the extended part towards the upper and bottom of the inclined panel, and fix the sample with four stainless steel clips. The stainless steel frame should not hinder the flow of the solution. Adjust the height of the funnel so that the lower end of its mouth is 5mm to 10mm away from the surface of the sample, and then place a beaker under the tester to collect the solution that flows down after the sample has penetrated.

3. According to the provisions of Table A.1, accurately measure the test solution with a measuring cylinder, introduce it into the adjusted funnel, and then quickly open the funnel door to the maximum to allow the solution to flow freely onto the surface of the sample. And flow down the slope into the beaker. After the solution has flowed out, close the funnel door and wipe the bottom of the funnel until there is no solution. Measure the solution in the beaker with a measuring cylinder (accurate to 1ml) as the test result. If the test solution flows away from the side of the sample, the sample will be invalidated and another one will be taken and tried again.


Calculation of slip test results:

The slip amount is expressed as the volume of the test solution that has not been absorbed by the sample. Seven samples are tested for each sample, and the large and small values in the seven test results are removed. The arithmetic mean of the remaining five samples is taken as the final test result, accurate to 1ml.

Determination of leakage:

As mentioned above, after measuring the leakage rate, remove the sample and quickly weigh the mass of the filter paper placed at the bottom of the sample. The leakage rate of the sample is represented by the difference in mass of the filter paper at the bottom of the sample before and after the experiment, and the final result is represented by the arithmetic mean of 5 samples with an accuracy of 0.1g
