Metal processing includes cleaning, surface treatment (anodizing, electroplating, etc.), and forming, ultimately leading to the generation of metal pollutants in processing wastewater. Arsenic (As), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), mercury (Hg), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), zinc (Zn) and other heavy metals are usually present in metal processing wastewater. Due to their potential negative impact on environmental health, they need to be removed before discharge.
In addition to removing metals, further processing can also be carried out to produce reusable water, thereby enhancing the sustainability of the manufacturing process. This article will briefly introduce the compliance and sustainability considerations for effectively treating metal containing wastewater.
